AUGUST 31, 2020 AT 8:00 PM ICT (9:00 PM Malaysia Time)

Vietnam One Health University Network (VOHUN) in collaboration with U.S. Department of Defense Biological Threat Reduction Program (BTRP) and Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) will host the fifth session on Monday, August 31st , 2020 at 8:00 PM ICT and 9:00 AM EDT. Dr. Subhash J. Bhore, Senior Associate Professor, IFBA Certified Professional from the Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology (AIMST), Malaysia will present a case study on Anthrax from a BRM One Health perspective. Anthrax remains a severely under-reported disease in Africa, Asia, and South America, where humans frequently butcher and eat animals infected with B anthracis. Anthrax is frequently fatal in domestic and wild animals and large outbreaks can occur in both groups. Anthrax can also be lethal in humans, causing overwhelming gastrointestinal or pulmonary disease. Taking a BRM One-Health approach that promotes communication between different disciplines to achieve optimal health of people, animals, and the environment is crucial. The session will include guest panelists from Vietnam, Malaysia and the U.S to answer questions and provide expertise and perspectives on Anthrax and Biorisk Management concepts. Sandia National Laboratories will provide technical subject expertise on Biorisk Management related to the case study.Session 5 SOUTHEAST ASIA SESSION [90 minutes]Monday, August 31 (USA)/ (SE, Asia)US: 9:00 AM EDT 7:00 AM MDT, 6:00 AM PDT Southeast Asia: 8:00 PM ICT
