Short Bio

Dr. Muhamad Fairus Noor Hassim, hold a PhD in Medical Microbiology. A senior lecturer in computational biology at Faculty of Science and Marine Environment, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). A fellow of Institute for Tropical Biodiversity and Sustainable Development. Head of health cluster for Biological Sustainability and Security (BIOSES) research interest group. His main study is on sustainability computation and science. He is a lead consultant for MIMOS Berhad and Procter & Gamble and previously appointed as co-consultant by Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, Malaysia. In fundamental science, he is a principal investigator for Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), MOHE and ‘Dana Penyelidikan’ – UMT grants studying and developing machine learning computation for agriculture supply-chain sustainability. He is one of the co-researchers in Long Term Research Grant (LRGS), MOHE and Department of Tourism, Terengganu. Through collaboration with industries and communities, he has won several innovation awards for developing big-data sustainability computation. In teaching, he has led an award-winning team of undergraduate students designing hands-on gamified tools to improve learning experience understanding Developmental Biology. He also owns several intellectual properties both in research and teaching innovation.
