Dr Sandie has over two decades of experience in zoo and wildlife animal medicine. She began her professional veterinary career at Taiping Zoo and Night Safari as a veterinary officer. She later joined the Department of Wildlife and National Parks Head Quarters and the Melaka Zoo. Currently, Dr Sandie is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. At the same time, she holds the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Development position, focusing on the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine curriculum teaching and learning to ensure the standard quality of UMK’s graduates. Her current research investigates zoonotic pathogens in domestic animals and wildlife that may potentially threaten human and environmental health. She also coordinates clinical practices as well as train student of anaesthesia and surgery for exotic animals. Given the need for better veterinary education, Dr Sandie also studies incorporating artificial intelligence into the didactic learning system.
