Assoc Prof Ts. Dr. Mohd Hafiz Arzmi is a very passionate microbiologist and immunologist. His research area includes polymicrobial interactions, biofilms, microbiomes, probiotics, and oral carcinogenesis. He obtained BSc (Microbiology) with honours and an MDSc from the University of Malaya. In 2017, he completed his PhD in oral microbiology and immunology from Melbourne Dental School, The University of Melbourne, Australia.

He is currently the Deputy Dean of Student Development and Community Engagement, Kulliyyah of Dentistry, IIUM, the Vice-President of Malaysian Society for Oral Microbiologist and Oral Immunologist (MySOMOI), the full member of the Young Scientist Network Academy of Science Malaysia (YSN-ASM) and the executive member for International Association for Dental Research (IADR), Malaysian Section. He is also the Head of Cluster of Cancer Research Initiative IIUM (COCRII), leading a transdisciplinary study in cancer research on the East Coast of Malaysia.

He has been actively publishing in high-impact journals and newspapers in microbiology, immunology and ethics. He is currently supervising post-doctoral, PhD, Masters, Final Year Project (FYP) students and internships, both local and international. He won various awards, including Promising Research Award by IIUM, and gold and silver awards at IIDEX, KIPA, ITEX and MTE. He has secured various prestigious international, national, and industrial grants, including Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), Prototype Research Grant Scheme (PRGS), etc. He also holds 2 patents, 12 copyrights, 2 trademarks and a trade secret, which among his commercialised products are synbiotic toothpaste, supplement for stress relief and cream for eczema by Jardin Pharma Berhad.
