Prof. Ts. Dr Khalina Abdan had experience in teaching various subjects of Master Emergency Response and Planning (MERP) since 2007. She was invited to contribute her professional observation of Bukit Antarabangsa landslide tragedy at Ampang Jaya Selangor in 2008 and to share her academic perspective views with the HAZMAT team at Sungai Kim Kim Pasir Gudang disaster red zone in 2019. She was also invited as an International Observer and Evaluator for Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Search & Rescue Exercises (SAREX, LIMA) in 2015, 2017 and 2019 and was appointed as Assessor for The National Avian Influenza Simulation Exercise in 2018.
Furthermore, under her supervision, MERP students were consistently involved in an international and national search and rescue exercises including in several strategic potential disaster areas such as KLIA, KLIA2, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Gemas, and terrorism exercise at the largest Coal Fired Power Plant, Tenaga Nasional Berhad at Janamanjung Seri Manjung Perak.
Moreover, she also gained experience in collaboration with ALPHA Training Centre, Civil Defence Malaysia, and the Incident Command System (ICS) under the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia. Jabatan Relawan Malaysia invited her as a Keynote speaker in Konvensyen Sukarelawan Kebangsaan as well as a Technical Expert in Front liners Module Development and Online assessment on the Disaster Management Cycle for the Ministry of Health. In 2021, She has contributed significant efforts in developing MS 2735:2021. STANDARD. Emergency preparedness and response. (EPR) – Guidelines for managing emergencies in facilities. The standard is available online for public reference.
