ZooCov – Webinar on Surveillance and Evaluation for Integrated Wildlife Monitoring

Under the ANR project “ZooCov: Toward an integrated surveillance of potential zoonotic Betacoronavirus in the wild animal value chains of Cambodia”, the Cirad, IPC, WCS and IDE are organising a series of 8 webinars entittled:

“Surveillance and evaluation for integrated wildlife monitoring”

from the 4th February to the 01st March 2021

The webinars will cover topics about Syndromic, wildlife and OH surveillance, qualitative approaches and evaluation (methods and tools) of surveillance systems.

The speakers are all recognized researchers in their field belonging to CIRAD, WCS or IDE. The talks will be organized
every Monday and Thursday for 2 hours until March. You can find attached the leaflet of the webinar with the agenda and some information about the project.

The first session will start this Thursday, February 4 at 2 pm (Malaysia time) with an introduction on surveillance systems presented by F. Goutard (Cirad Bangkok – GREASE coordinator), the presentation will be followed by questions and discussion, and will end before 3pm.

Online Webinar: The Re-emergence of Rabies Posing a Transnational Threat to Public Health

Organised by the International Veterinary Students Association Selangor, Malaysia in collaboration with the One Health Students Club UPM and MyOHUN.

This webinar aims to create awareness of the on-going rabies outbreak in the Eastern part of Malaysia, Sarawak and to highlight the importance of a one health approach to control and manage the outbreak. The objectives we wish to achieve from the event includes raising awareness about rabies burden in Malaysia, understanding its significant impact on public health and the importance of anti-rabies vaccination and other means of control. We would like to develop a holistic understanding regarding multi-agency collaboration to prevent and eradicate human rabies.

Empowering the Skills of Detection of Tuberculosis in Animals and Human and the Reporting System Among Veterinary and Medical Students.

On 21 st September 2020, MyOHUN has organized a webinar in Universiti Putra Malaysia on
Tuberculosis that includes lectures from veterinary and human medicine perspectives. The
first session talks about the clinical presentation of suspected tuberculosis (TB), physical
examination, and diagnostic work-up until a definitive diagnosis is achieved. The second
session of the webinar was a forum that lines-up the panelist from UPM and the
Department of Veterinary Services. One hundred thirteen participants who attended the webinar
were students, academicians, and professionals.

Online Webinar And One Health Massive Open Online Courses (OH-MOOC)

MyOHUN collaborated with USIM organized One Health Webinar Series focused on three
topics: One Health and AMR, COVID-19 Pandemic, and Zoonotic Diseases on 5, 12, and 19
September 2020, respectively. Each session, incredible speakers were invited to share their
knowledge and experiences on the topic given. Almost 800 participants attended the
webinars series from more than 25 countries worldwide, including Sierra Leone, Uganda,
and Pakistan.

At the same time, the team in USIM had developed contents for Massive Open Online
Course (MOOC) on One Heath and Zoonotic Diseases. The contents developed have won
Gold Award for Best MOOC Award in National e-Content Development Competition 2020
and is expected to be launched by the end of 2020.
